Xbox 360 controller not being recognized?

So my port 1 is set to "Standard Controller" and GCPad configuration the dropdown for "Device" shows two options;

Dinput/0/keyboard and mouse;
xinput/0/gamepad

When I select the gamepad option, the "Device" field goes blank. And the "Main Stick" and "C stick" boxes with the graphics in them, do not update when I move the sticks on my controller, thus leading me to realize it is not recognizing it. I tried using it to play WindWaker, and it does not respond when I input commands on the controller.

Yes my controller is plugged in (I use wireless and have an adapter)
Yes my drivers are all up to date
