Mac OSX 10.14.6 Dolphin + NGC Adapter

Hi All,

I know this has been answered a couple of times on other threads, but it appears things have changed since the last time it was answered.

I'm currently running Mac OS Mojave (10.14.6) MBP 2018 15"

I understand that I am in the minority here but none-theless I've purchased a NGC - USB Adapter and I'm running Dolphin on Mac.

I've confirmed that the 4x controllers that I purchased + adapter work just fine on a nintendo switch in "Wii U" mode.

I've tried installing the .kext file to no avail in Safe Mode.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks a lot in advance guys

Bluetooth Passthrough & Wii Remote Plus - Synced Once But Won't Sync Again

Hi all,

I managed to get my Wii Remote Plus connected via Bluetooth Passthrough and played some of games with it (e.g. Swordplay in Wii Sports Resort). All I did to Sync it was select Passthrough a Bluetooth adapter, start a game, press a button on the Wiimote and press the Sync button in Controller Settings.

I came back a while later to play some more, but I cannot get Dolphin to Sync with the Wii Remote Plus again. I still get the "Scanning for Wii Remotes" message, but the 4 LEDs on the Wiimote just keep flashing for 20 seconds and then stop.

Here's the process I'm following:

  1. Use the Zadig app to install libusbK (v3.0.7.0) (I have also tried WinUSB (v6.1.7600.16385)).
  2. In Dolphin, select Passthrough a Bluetooth adapter in Controller Settings.
  3. Start a game.
  4. Press the red Sync button on the Wiimote (4 LEDs start to flash), then press Sync in Controller Settings. Also tried pressing the buttons the other way around.
  5. See the Scanning for Wii Remotes message in the game window.
  6. The 4 LEDs just keep flashing. Wiimote doesn't vibrate and switch to 1 LED as it did before. Eventually it stops flashing.

I have tried:
  • Pressing the Reset button in Controller Settings.
  • Holding down the red Sync button on the Wiimote for 10+ seconds.
  • Older versions of Dolphin or 5.0-10960 in a different folder (each time using the portable.txt trick so a local user directory is used).
  • Pairing using normal Windows drivers via both Settings and Control Panel - it looks like the Wiimote is recognised as Input or Game Controller, but I cannot get it to pair.
  • Tested the Wiimote with my Wii - it syncs/pairs fine.
  • Experimenting with different games and settings in Dolphin (different graphics backends, VSync & Fullscreen on/off, Continuous Scanning & Background input on/off...)

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 7500U 2.7 GHz
RAM: 16 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 1080
OS: Windows 10 Professional x64 1903

BT: Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Bluetooth 4.1 (Rivet Networks Killer Wireless-AC 1535)
Wiimote: RVL-036 (Not sure what is shows as in Windows as I haven't been able to pair it)

Dolphin: 5.0-10960

As you can imagine this is really frustrating as it worked so easily the first time (and it worked so well in game). I just can't figure out what happened / changed to stop it working again.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer to get this working again. Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks!

Opening In-Game Menu

So I recently got Dolphin on my Chromebook (since they can run android apps), and everything was fine and dandy until I tried to use my gamepad. Usually, with the dolphin android app, to switch controllers one simply has to swipe down from the top of the screen to access the menu. However, when I do this on my Chromebook, it simply shows the tab with the minimize, back, and close window functions. So, any of you guys know a way around this? Some kind of command to open it, or a setting I'm missing? I've gone through dozens of forums and settings and have come up empty handed.

I won't upgrade it because I read it from Dolphin mentioned that Dolphin won't work with Catalina.. Is that true ? Are you going to fix it or something ?

I can't run Wii games on Dolphin

Ok, so I installed Dolphin a year ago, but I didn't used it so much. Now I wanted to play Super Mario Sunshine and I had a problem, the game didn't save as other games did. I tried to uninstall Dolphin, but I didn't find the uninstaller and I tried to delete every Dolphin folder. I installed it again and now I can't play Wii games. It says Failed to write BT.DINF to SYSCONF and if I skip it, the emulation closes. How can I keep running games fine? I noticed that I don't have the Dolphin Emulator folder in the Documents folder, if that helps.

Question: Can you have more than 10 save states on Dolphin?

$

I'm bringing up this topic because I love using RetroArch for anything N64 or older, however, I would love it if Dolphin could have more than 10 save states. I love using save states and it's annoying to have to move my states around or change the file type to .sav to have them all in one place.

In retroarch you can have up to 999 states (which is overkill) but still useful. Then I can load every state within the program as opposed to loading it from somewhere in Windows 10.

Does this make sense? Is there anyway I can currently have more than only 10 states in Dolphin? My ideal max number would be 300 at the most.

Nyko adapter problems - is this solved yet / is there a solution in the works?

So I like many others bought a nyko gamecube controller adapter with the intentions of using it with dolphin emulator. I, like everybody else, could not get it to work and realized that it's the adapter. Has anybody gotten this to work yet? Is there a fix in the works? Would love to not have to buy a new adapter if i can help it. Huh

Can't Find Directory

Hi all,
I'm very new to working with Dolphin and I'm really struggling to find the Dolphin folder in my computer.

I'm trying to install custom textures and I can't find the main directory folder. I looked at another thread and tried to find it by doing /Users/[NAME]/Library/Application Support/Dolphin/Load/, etc. I went to Application Support and it wasn't in that folder.
I also tried a general search for the "Dolphin" or "Load" folders and it didn't work. Where is it?

For more info, I'm running the latest version of Dolphin and I'm running OSX High Sierra, 10.13.6

The help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Dolphin keeps beachballing

Can anyone help me here? I have been using Dolphin on Windows but not on macOS before, and I keep encountering random beachballs just when changing some settings or opening a game directory for example.

Also when ever I enter my applications folder the Dolphin.dmg just appears on my desktop for no reason.

Are there fixes for these? Thanks

Dolphin not connecting Wiimote! (Dolphinbar)

So I just bought a Dolphinbar from Mayflash. The bar works great, is updated to the latest firmware (I checked), and my Wiimote connects to it very well. It works on the modes where you use the Wiimote as a cursor on your desktop as well. However, when I try to use the Wiimote through dolphin whilst it is connected and synced to the dolphinbar (on mode 4), the Wiimote is not registered. I have my controllers set to "Real Wii Remote" and "Continuous Scanning" is on, however when I press refresh it does not give me a vibrate. I use a Wii Motion Plus controller. What am I doing wrong? I know it is not the dolphinbar's fault. Do I need a bluetooth adapter, or does the dolphinbar connect it to my PC via bluetooth already?

Noobs Guide for Cheat Codes (Android)

Hi there everyone,
since i haven't found a detailed Tutorial about this issue I thought I make a Guide about how I got Cheats working for me on the latest version (5.0-10945) of the Android Dolphin Emulator
(I searched mainly using Google so sorry if there is an existing One)

1.
A) Open the "Dolphin.ini" located in ...\dolphin-emu\Config
B) Search for the "EnableCheats =" Line and change "False" into "True"
C) Save and close

2.
A) Search for the Cheat Codes of your Game here
https://www.geckocodes.org/index.php?chid=G&r=*
B) Important! You need the ID of your Game too
- you can find it on Android if you tap and hold your game listed next to "Game Settings:"
- or you can find it on the site which i put the link for here, next to the games name

3.
A) Create a .ini File and name it "GameID".ini or change some settings for your Game which will automatically create a .ini File for your Game
- example: the Game ID for Resident Evil Remake (US) should be GBIE08 so your File should be named "GBIE08.ini"
B) The .ini File is located in ...\dolphin-emu\GameSettings or if manually created has to be placed there

4.
A) Open the .ini File of your Game and edit it in this way:

[ActionReplay]
$xxx1                     <- Cheat Title
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx <- Code
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx <- more code if existing

$xxx2                     <- Next Cheat/s
xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx <- Code

[ActionReplay_Enabled]
$xxx1
$xxx2

B) thats about how the .ini should look like (without the arrows and the text behind them)
C) If some settings already exist in the File put the [ActionReplay] part below the existing stuff
D) Save, close and make sure the .ini is named only with the GameID of your game and is located in ...\dolphin-emu\GameSettings

If done correctly the game should start with the Cheats already active

Pointing with an emulated Wii Remote impossible

Hey,
I'm trying to set up my XBox360 controller for Dolphin and came across a problem:
Pointing with a controller seems to be impossible, as the cursor always stays in the middle of the screen.
I tried to bind IR cursor movement (it's now just called "Point") to the right and left joystick and also to the dpad, but no matter what the cursor in-game stays right in the middle. That makes games with Cursor/Point menus impossible to maneuver. It seems like its a problem with the position of the sensor bar, but its impossible to change its position with the new GUI of the control settings.
To be clear: In the control settings menu Dolphin is able to recognize all inputs of my controller, only in-game I am unable to move the cursor around. Even with relative input. On the other hand, binding this Point option to my mouse does indeed work also in-game.
Attached to this post is my control.ini file (converted to a txt file to comply with the forum rules).
Thanks in Advance!

Mac Mini 2018-19

Hi! So, full disclosure, I'm not super knowledgable about computers. I know just enough to get by. Not a fan of PC's and much prefer the Mac Mini which I've been happy with for several years now. So I'm not looking for advice on ditching the Mac for a PC, even though I understand that building a gaming PC is far superior. It's just not for me. I'm hoping to get some advice from fellow Mac users Smile

I'm curious if there are any Mac Mini users who have the 4th gen Mini that was released in late 2018 and could tell me how Dolphin performs on that. Or more specifically, how Dolphin performs through RetroArch.

I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini and it can juuuuuust manage to get by playing GameCube games, although oddly enough it plays them WAY better through RetroArch. If I try playing directly on Dolphin (version 5.0-10965) it stutters and isn't really playable. I assume it has to do with the settings or something. I'm not really sure. I'm just glad it works on one of them!

So far all I've really tried playing are a handful of titles: Windwaker, Crazy Taxi and Mario Golf play decently. Rogue Squadron II is too much and isn't really playable. I figure if the Mini I have now can play some games decently, then the new model is likely a huge improvement. Below are the specs I'm looking at vs what I have now:

2018
3.2GHz 6‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 4.6GHz)
32GB 2666MHz DDR4
Intel UHD Graphics 630
2TB SSD storage

2012
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz) - I believe this is quad core
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
1TB HDD storage

Any input provided is much appreciated! Thank you!

Mayflash adapter not detected

Looking for some tips. Everything used to work perfectly fine 2 months ago but now when I run dolphin I can't get the mayflash adapter to work at all. Phone is Samsung Galaxy S9+, app is the most up to date. The otg is the official samsung one and it works with other devices like keyboards or mouses. Mayflash adapter works perfectly on PC and is usually set to WiiU mode.

I remember when I used to plug in my adapter I'd get a pop up asking to use it and I'd say yes but now nothing happens. Running oreo on the phone. Any tips would be much appreciated.

FPS drops with graphical and audio glitches

Hello, Dolphin community!

I recently downloaded Dolphin for my PC because I wanted to play Animal Crossing - City Folk / Let's Go to the City over Wiimmfi together with my brother who plays the game on his Wii.

When the game is running on my laptop, occasionally the FPS drops while playing and then there are audio glitches (sound is distorted) and graphical glitches (slowdowns in the game). I have now tried to make some settings in Dolphin and to overclock my graphics card with MSI Afterburner. However, there are still some FPS drops while playing and then the glitches mentioned above occur.

I have attached all my settings of Dolphin and MSI Afterburner and would be very grateful if someone could give me some tips on how I could reduce or even eliminate the FPS drops.

Here are my computer and Dolphin specs:

Computer Model: Aspire V 15 Nitro (VN7-571G-70AD)
Operating System: Windows 10 x64
Processor/CPU: i7-5500U
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GeForce 940M (2 GB VRAM)
Memory/RAM: 8 GB DDR3 L Memory
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 5.0 x64

Thanks in advance and have a nice weekend!

pb with bluetooth passthrough on linux (arch) with WML-C43 wii dongle

$

Hello,
I embarked on using a real wii bt module following: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-how-to-wire-a-wii-s-bluetooth-module-to-a-pc-usb-port
After a bit of soldering, it works fine on windows (with the zadig driver): remembers pairing with A button press for example. So I guess, I got the soldering right.

On Arch Linux, I added, in /etc/udev/31-usb-device.rules, the line
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0305", TAG+="uaccess"

So if I enable passthrough, the module is detected and I can pair by resetting all saevd pairings, then pair again.
The problem is: when I close a game and re-open one, if I press on A button, the leds blink 1 or 2 seconds then stop. This probably means the pairing is rejected by the software.

Point is: I tried with another bluetooth adapter
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0a12", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0001", TAG+="uaccess"
And, after initial pairing, it remembers my wiimotes: I can reconnect by pressing A.
It works as expected (only thing being: not enough bandwidth fro intense 4 wiimotes).

So, I'm wondering if I did anything wrong: the wii bt module is usable but I have to re-pair each time I launch a game (which is annoying and sometimes demands several tries).

Thanks

Hello Dolphin Community!

I'm new with Dolphin, and I really want to up the performance as much as possible.
Problem is, the config menu is gibberish to me, I don't know what settings to fiddle with!
Could anyone here recommend me what settings to play with?

(If it helps) My specs are:

GPU1: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER
GPU2: MSI GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER
CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K
RAM: HyperX Predator DDR4 3200MHz 32GB

(Sorry if I'm not following any format or are posting in the wrong section, I'm new here.)

I still do not understand everything about Dolphin, or that much really lol. In the GC folder what is the SRAM.raw file in there?

And within the USA > Card A folder of my emulator would the 01-GLME-LUIGI_MANSION_SAVEDATA_v3.gci file be my save data for that playthrough of Luigi's Mansion?

What's a good low priced motherboard for AMD Ryzen 3600?
