This thread is dedicated to give steady feedback of stability in specific games.
I am currently running all of this using Windows 7, i7 2700k @ 4.2GHz, 8GB DIMM @ 666MHz and a downclocked GTX 570.
I use the stable as the main bench. I will update the used dev build when convenient, and I will update the info on this thread around a week after each stated build used in the previous testing.
Will end up testing more and more games. Will drop games that end up working flawlessly into a spoiler.
Current stable build: 4.0.2
Current dev build: 4.0: 1478

Dolphin settings.: (Show Spoiler)

-Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition: Ocarina of Time: Stable: Sound working half the time.

As you can see from the title I am really confused which to select.
In terms if power r7 265 wins
in terms if efficiency 750ti is the king
I don't care about efficiency I just want the more powerful one
but I have heard that amd drivers are bad..is it true?
how much difference will I see in dolphin?

please lock this..duplicate

Will my video card work with Dolphin?

Hello all,

I have an older Toshiba Satellite laptop with an Intel 945GM Mobile integrated graphics card. I'm also running Kubuntu 14.04. I am trying to run a Gamecube game (using Dolphin 4.0) and I'm getting the error "GLSL 1.30 is not supported. Supported versions are: 1.10, 1.20, and 1.00 ES".

I'm new to Linux and this kind of stuff and I've done research and I believe that this error means that my video driver and/or graphics card doesn't support OpenGL 3. Is that a correct conclusion? Is there some driver I can use with this hardware to get Dolphin to work or is this laptop just too old? I think it might be too old but I wanted to ask before I gave up.

Has anyone tried playing Gamecube/Wii Games on the Nvidia Shield?

Hi, several months ago I got the Nvidia Shield to be able to play emulators on the go, but I am having trouble with the Android version of Dolphin. I already got my .iso file, and I transferred it from my computer to my Shield, but I can't seem to have it show on display. I tried using the .iso (to see if it was a virus) on my computer and it works perfectly fine. I tried changing the settings all around and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Export Wii Save Error - Failed to Write Header

Hello everyone!

I am using Dolphin 4.0 on my Windows 7 x64 computer to emulate some Wii games that I have. I would like to transfer some of the save files from my computer to my Wii, but clicking the "Export Wii Save (Experimental)" for Super Paper Mario results in the following error:

"Failed to write header for ./private/wii/title/R8PE/data.bin"

This issue occurs with other games as well.

Any idea what could be causing this?

Help finding optimum settings

Hi guys,
New here, thought I'd ask about any settings to get optimal performance in any/most games. I'm using an Asus G53SX Gaming Laptop (Circa 2012 I think) and whenever I play a game (tested House of the Dead: Overkill, Super Mario Sunshine, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, Metroid Prime Trilogy) I can get no more than 25 FPS. I've tried many, MANY different combinations of settings, but I've never touched the check boxes. I've only changed anti-aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, Internal Resolution, all the backends, and my resolution. I've tried max settings, minimum settings, and nothing works (the audio is always distorted too). Any suggestions (especially people with the same computer) would be greatly appreciated
My specs are
nVidia GTX 560M w/2gb VRAM
12gb ram
Windows 7 x64 Home Premium
Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Dolphin version 4.0.1
Thanks everyone!

EDIT (Missed something in the rules):
Games I'm trying to run (including the ones above): Super Smash Bros Brawl, Tony Hawks PS3/4, LoZ Twilight Princess
And the weird thing is I would get better performance at higher settings than lower ones (if only slightly)

Rip music from rom?

Hi, I'd like to listen to my game's music, and I found a tutorial on how to do that, but it's kind of an old thead, there are new versions of the program and of the plugin .. https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-tu...light=.hps
So how do I get winamp to play or convert the .hps files? The plugins don't seem to work, or I installed them wrong? Hopefully someone around here will know how to do it and help me out ;D

Why is Dolphin GC emulating slow and how can I fix it?

$

I'd list comp specs but I already did at registration so I'm guessing you can see them. Dolphin seems to work perfectly with Wii emulation, they all run at 100%, but for some reason all Gamecube games are significantly slowed down, and despite adjustments to settings the speed is unaffected. I have tried everything in the Performance Guide (https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?t...ance_Guide ) I even disabled EFB Copies altogether and everything else to boost speed and the most simple game I have (The Sims 1) still runs at most 70%, the second game in the series The Sims Bustin Out runs around 40%, while The Sims 3 for Wii runs at 100%. I can run very demanding computer games like Diablo 3 at maximum settings but I can't run old GC games? I am using 4.0 (the latest stable version for Mac) But just now I downloaded the latest development version, 4.0-1478 and I noticed the game has jumped from running between 63-73% on average to 73-85% on average and Sims Bustin Out jumped from around 40% to around 55% (jumping between 30-80% periodically, bringing it from unplayable to playable with a great deal of patience in my book) (very short testing with the dev version) and this is with the same settings. Disabling EFB Copies still makes no difference, I guess its just not something the game uses or the functions broken in the Mac version. Either way I don't see how it could possibly be the demands of the game slowing Dolphin down, my CPU is running at 2% and I have a couple unused GB of RAM while the game is running. The fact that it speeds up simply by using a different version tells me it might be how Dolphin was programmed. Other games had a more significant impact, Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance jumped from an unplayable 40% to 100% without any lag. Some games like The Sims 2 Pets doesn't run at all in 4.0 but runs fine but at around 83% in 4.0-1478. But some games cause Dolphin to crash on both versions (Avatar - The Last Airbender). If you have any ideas not listed in the Performance Guide let me know.

P.S. All the gamecube games I mentioned run at 100% at the main screen, but slow down during gameplay.

Blissbox GCN-USB crashes Dolphin

Not only when I go to play, but when it has to register that Blissbox exists at ALL (i.e. setting controls). Now, I'm thinking this might be the Blissbox unit itself, as it's been giving me grief lately (probably dying, the thing is a couple years old now and I take it with me everywhere), but I wanted to be sure.

When it reads Blissbox, it hangs for a couple seconds, then produces the "Dolphin has stopped responding" not once, but twice. Looking in the exceptioninfo.txt reveals why: it's throwing two exceptions one after the other.

Unhandled Exception
Code: 0xC0000005

I was hoping this would be a more straightforward explanation than some pointers... Help?

Gamecube Controller via Mayflash GC to Wii Adapter

Hey Guys,

since this is my first text in these forums I just want to thank you for this great emulator. It is a great piece of software and I really like it a lot.

Nevertheless I have a little problem hooking up my Gamecube controller via the Mayflash GC to Wii adapter (which in fact makes the GC controller behave like a classic controller). Under Macintosh I found a nice tool to get this working, but under Windows (with glovepie and ppjoy) I did not really make it. Therefore I wanted to ask if there are any plans of including a wii classic controller support for gamecube games in the emulator.
By the way I found that you use OpenGL under Mac and Linux, but DirectX under Windows and was wondering why. Wouldn't it be easier to just code with one?

Thank you for your help

Google code project for Android

Hello people,

I just wanted to ask if there is a dedicated Google code project for the android version of Dolphin. It would be quite convenient to have some visibility of where the project is or what issues are being worked on. It also helps to have a change log for the latest builds so I know if its worth testing. Any clues?

I'm "aspect correcting" several textures in Wind Waker so they look good in 16:9!

$

Hey, everyone, just thought I'd let you know about a fun little project I'm working on. Basically, I'm going through and manually rescaling several textures (HD ones, credit to Hypatia [seriously, check out this texture pack, it's awesome]) in the Wind Waker's HUD so that when they get stretched to 16:9, they actually look normal and the UI mostly appears as if it were designed with widescreen in mind. I'm far from done, although the results are already extremely promising!

Here are some screenshots, if you're keen.

The first thing I worked on as a "proof of concept" was the controller buttons, which you'll notice are now rounded even though they normally appear stretched in widescreen. From there, I continued on and did the hearts, the rupee icon in the corner, numbers, the Nintendo and Dolby logos at startup, everything on the splash screen, some item icons, and the text (blah, super tedious; thank Gaben for GIMP's grids and keyboard shortcuts, though!).

The process itself is rather easy. I take a texture, scale its width to 75% of the normal value, and then to centre the texture I move the scaled image to the right by x number of pixels, where x = (originalWidth - newWidth) * 0.5. This formula would actually be fairly simple to script, and it's something I'm interested in pursuing.

One thing to bear in mind, however, is that this absolutely will not work for all textures and that fitting textures must be hand-picked. Essentially, background HUD elements in particular will not produce clean results with this since other textures are overlaid on top of them. Most (but not all, depending on the background) overlaid textures will work fine, though, such as items or buttons in the case of the Wind Waker. Scaling text boxes themselves also will not generate pleasing results as the text will end up outside of the box; however, text works perfectly if the text is one whole image itself (see the "Info" text next to the A button in the first screen), and it looks decent if it's aspect corrected on an unscaled background (see the "Bait Bag" text, also on the first screen).

All in all, I'm having tons of fun with this concept, and I'm incredibly satisfied with the results it's producing. If I can get all of the high resolution textures loading properly, I'll be able to modify them and almost make Wind Waker look like a native widescreen title.

EDIT

I've added another screenshot to the album, this one with text in it. There are only two unscaled elements in this image: The background of the text, and the arrow. Everything else gets scaled to a proper aspect ratio when forced to 16:9.

This also highlights one of the issues with how text as handled. As you'll notice, the spacing between the text looks rather odd since it's so large. This is a side effect of "squishing" the fonts so that their aspect ratio looks normal when being stretched out. If I ever release a texture pack of any kind using this texture aspect correction concept, I will provide options with and without corrected text.

Quick Portal of Power Question

Hi,
I have read here that in order to get the skylanders swap force portal of power to work with dolphin I have to use zadig to write over the driver. My question may be dumb, but if I use the application will I still be able to use the portal with the wii later on? Is the driver being overwritten on my PC or the portal itself? Thanks.
