File Associations/Registry Settings

I'm using an old laptop as a "Steam Box" and using the Big Picture interface and Steam controller to launch everything. So far this is coming along pretty easily, with the biggest problem being resolved by an old post in these forums by @ldfpaint99 who noted that the registry needed to be changed to allow file associations to work. So I modified my registry to "C:\Program Files\Dolphin\Dolphin.exe" /e "%1" and that allows Dolphin games to be launched from Steam.

My only remaining problem is that when I shut down the game, I'd like to return it to Big Picture mode, but instead Dolphin is still running. Reading that same info from @ldfpaint99 it seems that adding a /b should shut down Dolphin when the emulation ends, but when I add that ("C:\Program Files\Dolphin\Dolphin.exe" /e /b "%1") I get an "unexpected parameter" error. Am I doing something wrong?

Also, what's the easiest way to shut down a game from the controller? I haven't researched that, but that will be the final feature I need to make this work so I figured I'd just ask.

For some reason, when I load up Skyward Sword, the little pointer will not show up on the screen. I have successfully connected a wiimote and attatched a wiimotion+ accessory to it, but it does not seen to work. I am using 5.0-10056 on a 2011 mac.

hi guys, I was trying to config my controller but everytime i click on config. close to the controller tipe, the program crash.
I deleted several times the file .ini in documents and I tried to open the config. menu while my controller was disconnected but dolphin always crash!

for the past year or so, Ive been able to play games on Dolphin, but it crashes after about an hour. When I try to open it again, it crashes within a minute of opening a game. Ive done some troubleshooting (Running as administrator, compatibility mode, clearing cache) but nothing seems to work. This is the same with every game except OoT Master Quest.

My phone is 64-bits but even so dolphin emulator doesn't install

Hello,

I have this smartphone "Samsung Galaxy J8", well, it has a processor 64-bits and 4gb RAM, BUT, dolphin emulator isn't avaliable on play store, and even if a download from the site doesn't work, always show a message "the app was not installed". Any of you can help me with that? I think it's because this cellphone is from 2018 and as it's not a "top of the line", is not famous. I'd like to play wii on my phone

Hello all. I'm a bit of an amateur here. Usually I have a friend who helps me out with this, as he's a lot more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to computers and trouble shooting, but he's been pretty busy and hasn't really had the time. So here I am, thinking maybe I can figure it out with the help of you lovely people.

I've got a Galaxy S10+ and an IPEGA Red Knight bluetooth controller. I've been trying to make Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door work on it. I seem to have already had easy success with Windwaker (I didn't play very much at all but was able to run around with no obvious issues). But with TTYD it goes fine through the start screen, the intro exposition, right up to the title screen, then when it tries to transition past the title screen it dies. Dolphin itself seems to be fine, it's not that the app itself is crashing. Just closes down and spits me back out to the game selection screen. As far as I can tell I've perused all of the settings and everything seems to be on the lowest option possible. I'm really at a loss here. Anyone have any suggestions?

Wii remote will not pair

Despite watching videos and reading articles, I cannot get my Wii Remote to pair with dolphin. Windows sees it and i can pair and connect with the wii remote. It sits there connected for only about 10 seconds before disappearing again. (has done this with all controllers I have tried, and yes the bluetooth adapter works) Pressing the Refresh button in the emulator results in the wii remote appearing again in the bluetooth list but it disappears again after the wii remote does not connect to anything. I've tried pressing 1 + 2 after and before pressing refresh, tried both old and new wii remotes, and tried the alternative driver where you can press the sync button in the controller settings. Nothings happens, please help I want to play wii bowling again =)

Keyboard won't work with Gamecube, only with Wii games.

So installed dolphin about a month ago to play some Wii games. I was fine to play them with the keyboard since I was mainly playing RPGs. So I eventually decided to rip some of my gamecube games. I then tried to set up keyboard controls for gamecube games but it won't register input from the keys, only from the mouse. I checked I was on standard controller and trying to use the keyboard from the same ports as when I played wii games and should work! I'm not the most technically inclined person, so please give me a simple response.

Tired of the touch screen control's and don't wanna snap my phone Dark Souls style!
I have an S9 and would like a snap on controller to basically make it like a vita type. More buttons the better, such as dual analog sticks, 4 shoulder button's, and a PS2/3/4 style d-pad would be nice. ++ For an extra battery pack. Nothing that will break easy like the N64 analog stick! Lol.

The game keeps crashing at the boat scene. It's supposed to work fine as a developer said it was fixed but it is not. Is there anything I should do to make it work ?

IR Sensitivity for New Version Beta

hi, I'm currently using the latest beta version of Dolphin given the availability to enable the Relative Input option. The only problem is that the sensitivity is really low so it is very difficult for me to move the IR cursor. So I kindly ask if you can enter an option to change the sensitivity of the IR Pointer for the newest beta version. Thank you

Sonic Colors Black Screen Issue [Help]

So I was playing sonic colors on dolphin, and found a weird bug where the screen (or more accurately any 3d objects) goes black at the beginning of Act 6 of starlight carnival.
I can open the menu and quit the level, and music still plays, but I can't really do anything.
I attached a gif that (sort of) shows what happens.
I'm using a samsung note 9 (snapdragon 845) (android version 9) and using Vulkan.

My settings are:

I tried changing a few settings around to see if they did anything, but continued to get the black screen.
I tried switching to opengl and seeing if it would work on that, but the game doesn't really work with opengl.
Anyone else ever found/replicated this problem, or know if it is a bug with the emulator, or have ideas on how to fix it if it is related to settings?

Odd occurence

When I start Wind Waker, as to be expected on a low end laptop, it hovers around 16-25 fps. I've checked the system requirements and I'm bordering on the minimum, however I know it can be ran at a constant 30 fps. And the reason I know this is because I closed the laptop to move it while on Windfall Island, having a constant 20 fps, but upon opening the laptop back up, it ran flawlessly at 30 fps for at the most 2 minutes, and yes, this is reproducible, and if needed I can provide video evidence of this happening. I'm even running it on the lowest settings possible, not that I know if that's a part of it. Now here is the question I actually want to ask, what about closing my laptop would remotely have ANY effect on it running at 100% speed?

The laptop is an Intel core i-3 4000m CPU @2.4/2.39ghz with 9.72gig of RAM usable, if you needed to know that.

Hi, i am having trouble with the graphics on the Zelda NES, they are all messed up. I read about the XFB but there only seem to be 2 options(store and present) in the emulator for it so I don't know what to do with it. Where in the emulator would I make changes related to the XFB?

So I recently booted up LEGO Star Wars, on Wii, for the Dolphin. (PAL copy, if that matters.) Everything was great until I finished a mission, because the performance dropped significantly. I guess it was around 60% 50% speed or something. Can't remember...

First thing I did was to look up the game's wiki page to see if there was a compatibility setting I needed. The wiki just said that everything should work.

So I did some tinkering with the settings on my Dolphin. - The stuttering occured on the title screen (on slower backends at least), and on the mission select, mission intro & mission clear screens, etc. I.e., the parts with a starry background.

Eventually I fixed it by changing the game's INI settings to diable Anti-Aliasing; [Video_Settings] MSAA = 0 - Now I can run the game at full speed no problem! Big Grin


So yeah. If there could be a note somewhere that the mission select/mission clear screens stutter when anti-aliasing is enabled, that be pretty swell.

Problem When Shutting Games Down (w/ Bluetooth Passthrough)

Hello everyone!


First, let me say that I have WinUSB installed and it works great when I have a game up and running. There is only one small issue...

After I close a game and try to start another, I get an endless black screen. The problem goes away when I restart Dolphin and start a game, but persists when I try to launch any subsequent titles.
I also found out that after closing a game down (using the stop button), I get abnormally high CPU usage for Dolphin:

Whenever I launch a game while it's in this state and with Bluetooth Passthrough enabled, I get the black screen.

It also spits this out in the logs:

It seems to correctly identify and select the Bluetooth device, I'm just not sure what the 3rd line Failed to get config descriptor for device 8086:a12f means.

Obviously, this is a Bluetooth Passthrough related issue, as when I use Emulated and close a game down, I don't get the same high CPU usage.
Could it be stuck in some sort of loop...? I'm currently using version 5.0-10551.

Question about reporting bugs or abnormalities

If I see something in a game that I think might be abnormal, how should I go about reporting that? Is it worth reporting everything weird I see? If so, what is the least annoying way for me to report them. I've seen a few weird things in the games I've played recently and just wanted to know how to report them.
