Alienware M17 Laptop How Good Will Dolphin Run?

Here are the specs of the new laptop I am buying. I was wondering how well this would run dolphin. I usually use game debate for other games but as for emulators I have no idea what to go off of.

This suddenly started happening when i tried to launch a scrubbed game and now suddenly all the wii games show this error on launch i tried uninstalling dolphin but to no avail. what do i do?

Cannot manually configure controls while using 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ in XInput mode

I am trying to manually set controls for Dolphin using an 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ in XInput mode via USB. I cannot change any control (the only controls that actually respond are A, X, and the triggers) and when I try to move the left stick up or down to register, it will only register left or right motions. The C-Stick (right stick) will not input at all. Dolphin works perfectly fine with an Xbox One controller being used in USB mode, so I don't know what gives trying to use the 8BitDo.

Could looking glass full 3D be possible for Dolphin?

It would be really cool (though performance is a thought) but the cost of anything beyond the $599 price for the 8.9 inch model is super expensive currently.
I would figure its feasible since Dolphin has that free-look feature that proves you can ignore a game's locked camera limits but it would likely take a whole lot of work to make things render correctly and make it stable.
For example,you can usually have free-look move around to view a player character or object from another angle without missing details.

It could probably take an extreme amount of GPU horsepower to make it function as it would basically be multiple renders of various angle chunks being done all at once,potentially debunking it as a reasonable feature other than maybe using 1x Native instead of upscaling as one downside,else you would max out the gpu and run at single digit frame rates or worse.
One exception may be the idea to make model storage possible to cache render views of individual models at the cost of high ram usage and use them to quickly pull up each and every angle,unless they can already be taken advantage of if they are already fully stored per frame so you could access the required data to render them with less performance overhead.

An example of the possibility being less difficult would be the fact that Nemu64 with a certain plugin can actually rip all models of an N64 game instance which could pull entire levels along with the player and other models that are active on that frame.

Its going to probably take a few or so years for those displays to become more reasonable to purchase with better resolutions.

I just wanted to ask this out of curiosity and the intrigue because of how cool it would be,especially if many other 3D system emulators could also possibly enhance the viewing experience for anyone that ends up getting one of those awesome holographic monitors.

A friend is using this emulator for quite a while now (and is very happy with it) and therefore I've given it a try.

Unfortunately it doesn't run as expected on my Laptop.

My Laptop has:

Intel Core i76500U 2.5GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 650M with 4GB dedicated VRAM
8GB DDR4 Memory

The Emulator and the Games are currently lying on the built in HDD, not the SDD.

When starting MArio KArt Wii, I get pretty good Frames, but occasionally drastic Framedrops (from 60 to 15 FPS) Twice to thrice a race. Sometimes it drops to 80% speed for a lap or race.

In Mario Kart Double Dash I've never got over 30 FPS (50% speed).

Which of the compartments is it' which is to weak? I've checked with the minimal requirements and my laptop seems to be way above this.

When starting a Game, I have 85% RAM taken away says the Task Manager (by all running threads).

It would be great, if someone could tell me, in which component the error lies

Unable to access external USB storage via OTG cable

Hello,

Dolphin on Android's built-in file manager is lacking the ability to request permission for accessing USB storage devices. Another type of storage that is inaccessible through the built-in file manager are network locations.

If this is too much to ask for to be built into the in-house file manager, I think it's possible to implement a feature that allows users to use their preferred file managers and use the Share button to open the file in Dolphin, though I find this possible workaround non-ideal.

When a file manager app tries to access a USB storage device, it will ask for permission. Dolphin simply does not ask for permission, hence not being able to access the device. Arbitrary USB device path: /mnt/media_rw/<random-hex-id>. Documentation on how to obtain r/w access to USB devices is found here: https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/connectivity/usb/host.

Ideally, Dolphin should not have a built-in file manager and simply use the default file manager of the user, and use a built-in file manager as a fallback if no file manager exists, this way, the fallback file manager would not need to be feature rich (as is the case now) and users who want more functionality will simply be guided to download their preferred file manager and use that with Dolphin instead.

Any updates to the implementation of more storage access options would be great, in any manner.

Okay so I patched and play a Path of Radiance JP ISO to play Maniac Mode. Now that I've finished it I want to transfer the files over to Radiant Dawn for the bonuses.

It is until now that I know that save files are region locked. So I have the .raw file that I thought was the PoR save file, which my GCConverter can't find for some reason. I return to the PoR ISO and now my ISO doesn't detect a save file.

I do have several save states from the endgame; however, when prompted to save file from that state, PoR says that "it isn't the original save". When I load the .raw file into the memory card, my RD ISO does detect it, but as a corrupted file.

What can I do? I have the .raw file, I have no idea how I meddled with the memory thing with PoR and I really want my transfer.

Okay. Once I've gotten past the forbidden fortress level and was rescued by the talking boat, He asks me to go get a sail. However, once that cut scene is over, I get stuck in dialog with the talking ship and I can't get out of it. It just keeps asking if I've gotten the sail yet.

Could this be due to a glitch in the cheats I've been using?

Madagascar Graphical Glitches

The Madagascar game has weird graphical glitches. Can I fix them?

On MMJ they don't happen, but on my Honor 8 that game on those builds works slower than on the official 5.0-5xxx builds while some other games (e.g. Need for Speed) on the same phone work faster than on old versions.

Sonic & the Secret Rings - Mini-Turbo unusable

Hello, I managed to finally configure Sonic & the Secret Rings for emulated Wiimote use with a Wii U Pro controller, running through Mayflash. Unfortunately, one gameplay feature that appears to be required to progress through the game does not work, despite its required controls properly mapped. In order to use Mini-Turbo abilities in the game, the Wii remote must be thrusted forward while the countdown is on "1". No matter how much I configure the forward swing AND the forward tilt, along with the swing & tilt fields, I cannot trigger it.

Disabling external frame buffer

On builds up to 5.0-6094 there is an option that enables external frame buffer (it is disabled by default). But on new versions it's missing. How can I disable external frame buffer on new versions? (it could speed up some games on Honor 8 FRD-L09)

Intense lag with newer versions

Hello everyone, Ive been using dolphin for about a year now. I'm currently using version 5.0-9470 and it runs very well, all games run as they should. However, when I updated to the next version and every subsequent version since, I've experienced constant lag with all games running at about half speed. 9470 for me runs all games perfectly and has no lag issues at all. When I changed versions, I made sure that all of the settings were the same and they are. 5.0-11516 is the latest version and it still behaves the same. What can I do to fix this? Thank you.

Wireless Controller Freeze and Lag

When you have a wireless controller on before you start dolphin, it will freeze the entire PC for a considerable amount of time. Latest developmental version here. DS4Windows - Ryochan used with DS4 controller. Also, having the controller still on when closing out dolphin causes dolphin to crash. All of this was with vulkan backend. haven't texted the others.

Relative IR Center not working

No matter what I set for the IR, even with Relative IR Center option on, It still goes back to the center of the screen. Is there any fix for this? I'm using the latest development build.

Rayman Arena STILL not working in 2020. WOW

I am sorry but, it's hard to believe that no one has ever made a solution to Rayman Arena's crash when loading up Battle Stage 2 "Rise and Shrine"

What so-called "solutions" that already exist absolutely do not work. Primarily the idea of boosting CPU Clock to 150% and button mashing A. Does not work. The issue is for some reason caused by a stupid cutscene that occurs when selecting the stage right before the loading screen appears.

Can this please get fixed once and for all? Literally cannot play half of the game because of this stupid bug/crash. And there are no videos of anyone demonstrating this fix, if there is one. Why has this issue been around for so long?

I remember the last time I tried playing this game, and quitting because of the same issue was back in 2013. Ridiculous.

Dolphin's custom Input Mapping (help!)

Hello, I'm new to the Dolphin forum and I have a question

I mainly play DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 on dolphin emulator which is super good and because latest dev builds allow users to reduce the input lag by 15ms by choosing certain settings (which is super for fighting games); however, what I'm trying to do is to play it with a DS2/DS3/DS4 pad trying to configure the standard controller exactly like the PS2 input mapping of T3 from the PS2 version of the game (I only play this game so I'm not really interested if I could have any conflict w/ other games input mapping)

I'm using Standard Controller since it's the only one supported by the NetPlay funcions

I got into a problem when setting C-Stick Up and C-Stick-Down controls, which I respectively configured as L3 (`Button 10`) and R3 (`Button 11`) at the beginning

Here comes the problem: Character Switch should be L3+R3 both pressed, I can't configure C-Stick Up as `Button 10`&`Button 11` when I already have C-Stick-Down configured as `Button 11` because it's an Axis inclination, & when I try to `Button 10`&`Button 11` Axis just gets back into Idle position having a conflict w/ the C-Stick-Down control

My idea is to script something w/ the latest builds that kind of denies the C-Stick Down input whenever `Button 10` is already being pressed, allowing me to get C-Stick Up by Pressing `Button 10`&`Button 11` with no conflicts with the C-Stick Down input

I know this might sound a bit confusing (also sorry for my bad english) but I really need help and I seriously hope there's a chance to get my wish granted. If not, I'll simply stick with my old button settings (with a little tear scrolling down on my cheek)

steam controller does NOT work

the steam controller does not work at all on the latest android version and there is no option of any kind for making bindings..... i bought it just for this
