this is the texture pack: http://zeldatphdt.blogspot.com/

So i just downloaded it because i have been wanting to play twilight princess, but the modpack comes with an old version of Ishurika dolphin. like it does not use the gamecube adapter.
i was wondering if anyone just uses the texture pack with the current versions of dolphin and gets the same results as the screen shots that the website has.

Sudden Decrease in Performance on 5.0

About a week ago, I was playing Project M, and it was playing at pretty much full speed. 2 hours later, I pull up Dolphin again and it suddenly runs at half speed or lower. Running other games yielded the same results. I've tried:
  • Running other intensive programs (ePSXe, Project64); they worked fine.
  • Running another version of Dolphin (Ishiiruka); it experienced the same issue
  • Checking my power plan settings; no change, but I tried changing them to highest anyway. No fix.
  • Restarting my computer; no fix
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Dolphin 5.0; still no fix
  • Completely deleting my config files and starting from scratch; Dolphin performed worse on default settings, and just as poorly as the described issue when I changed them to how I had them before (as expected).
  • Restarting my computer again; no fix
  • Extensive googling; everyone else's issue seems to be similarly specific, and if they solve it they usually either do one of the things I tried, or simply don't say what they did to solve it.
  • Changing every setting in multiple combinations.  I definitely missed some combination or another. Nothing gave any better performance than my normal settings or fixed the sudden performance issues.
  • Using an experimental build of Dolphin (5.0-3345 x64); the frame-skipping is a nice feature, but it can't come anywhere close to compensating for the (still present) poor performance. No fix.
  • Using an old build of Dolphin (4.0.2 x64). The performance actually seems to be even worse here.
I'm trying to use the 5.0 official build. The only non-default settings I have are:
  • Changed the backed to Direct3D 11 and the adapter to my GPU
  • Borderless Fullscreen
  • OpenAL audio (XAudio sounded really bad)
An interesting thing to note is that the performance will gradually get better as I play the game, and then suddenly get worse.  It will continue to fluctuate like this after a random amount of time.  I've noticed that the performance jumps up significantly when there are no moving backgrounds, but this is to be expected anyway.

Do you guys have any advice on other things to try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In case my system info isn't included somewhere, I'll put it here.
  • Windows 10 x64
  • 8 GB DDR3 RAM
  • Intel Core i5-2450M @ 2.5 GHz
  • Intel HD Graphics 3000
I realize my system is pretty low-end, but I've been playing Gamecube and Wii games on Dolphin just fine for around a year now.

About the Standard Controller (Emulated Gamecube Controller)

I used to have this problem with the Nunchuck when i was playing but it got fixed so I will be going to say this. Like what happened to the nunchuck control stick, The GameCube control stick will go crazy if i set the keys to the axis that i use for my mouse, when i move my mouse the control stick will just try and force itself back to the center which really annoys me. You can try this by just going into the configure menu but it would just waste your time. Plz fix this. [Image: ezgif-1-c7f267af22.gif]

Building a new computer

Hey guys, new to the thread and community. I was excited when I found out you don't need a super computer to run a Gamecube emulator anymore. So I loaded up Dolphin onto my desktop, but it turns out my old pc doesn't have the processing power to run any games smoothly. So I've decided to build a new "budget" computer around the Pentium G3258. After doing a some research I've come to these parts

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
Motherboard: Asrock Z97 Pro4
Ram: Kingston Hyperx 8gb (2x4)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1tb HDD
Power Supply: Corsair 450w 80+ Bronze
Video Card: Undecided
Case: Undecided

Now I'm not looking for a super computer, but I want it to do more than the bare minimum, which is why I opted for the 8gb of ram. Now my questions are how well will this hold up? Is it overkill? Will it even run dolphin smoothly? Are there any cheaper alternatives?

As for the graphics card and case goes I've hit a wall. I'm not planning on running 4k. 720p is the minimum I'm looking for when running most games, but I do need the computer to be able to view and edit 1440p videos. So if you guys could recommend anything, that doesn't cost too much money I'd greatly appreciate it. As for the case, Is it just buyer's choice are there any mandatory specs I would need?

Finally the PC I have now is the HP Pavilion Slimline S5414Y. Am I better off upgrading this current PC? As far as I could tell upgrading the cpu and ram won't make it that much better. Also s there anything from this PC I can salvage (besides the hard drive) to put into a my new build?
Thank you guys very much.

Enabling Cheats for Gameplay bug?

Hello, I've recently downloaded Dolphin and the performance is great and I have no issues in-game. However, when I try to click anything within Dolphin, file explorer pops up asking to load a game. What I am trying to do is enable cheats in basic settings under configuration tab and it's always greyed out because I have to load a game in order to access any settings. Anyone else having this issue? I've tried everything ... help would be greatly appreciated thank you

How can I use Vulkan Video backend?

Hey I'm looking for a method to run a game with Vulkan backend with dolphin-emu-master in LinuxMint 18.1.
I installed the amdgpu-pro driver, added the 'DRI' '3' in config file of driver.
I installed VulkanSDK through 'export' command as well. And I copied the lib and bin to /usr , too.
I can run DotA2 with Vulkan.
But when I ran a game it notice that 'Failed to create vulkan instance' and show a white screen in the window. Then I couldn't run any game with any backend until restarted the dolphin.
By the way, if I use the OpenGL backend in develop version of dolphin(dolphin-emu-master), my PC will crash when I start emulation.

It runs at an almost widescreen aspect ratio, although not quite 16:9 either.  I've seen videos of the genesis version and it does indeed run at 4:3.  Can someone fix this issue please?

Adjust controller sensitivity on android.

Hi All
How do you lower the controller sensitivity on android or via ini files?

(blurb)
recently started playing Wind Waker. great game btw.
i'm in the area inside the Pirate ship where you need to jump on platforms, and every minor twitch or adjustment, it just jumps that way. makes it pretty difficult to pass.
never played the Original, but I think lowering the sensitivity might help

Kinivo BTD-400 good enough for passthrough?

I'm looking forward to buy a Bluetooth adapter solely for dolphin, to use passthrough. The Kinivo BTD-400 is good enough for it? The list says it is, but I saw a user in the forums that said he had some problems with it. I don't want to buy another, more expensive adapter so if anybody used it, how is it? Do you recommend it?

Thanks in advance Smile

Do I need to install IOS wads in order for Dolphin to function properly?

Hi there. New to Dolphin. I'm a bit confused concerning Dolphin and IOS.

I know Dolphin emulates IOS using its IOS HLE. But I've read that for some games to work I need to install the actual IOS required by the game. Is this correct?

All the games I've thrown at Dolphin worked without having to install any system updates.

Will I have to install the actual IOS wads for certain games to work? And if so could you name a few?

Thanks.

Dolphin.exe System Error

Long story short: api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is missing. I downloaded, uninstalled, reinstalled Microsoft C++ Visual Studio 2015 and multiple others and it still didn't work so i tried to download the .dll itself and it worked but it required more dll to be downloaded as i kept going. (This is happening to my friend and not me) He has windows 8.1.

Minimap problem Zelda Twilight Princess GC

Hello,

I have a bug with the minimap in the game, the only way to fix it (for me) is to select "RAM" in hacks options. But when I select this, my fps are very low regardless of the graphic parameters that I select.

Is there a patch to fix this bug without selecting "ram" ?

I precise i'm using Dolphin 5.0 and i'm on a Mac.

Sorry for my very bad english, i'm french.

Thanks in advance !

Dolphin closes instantly with no error (x64)

Hi all,

I have had this issue for a long time with x64 builds of Dolphin (it also happened in 4.0.2, and possibly even before that), however this has only become a major issue for me recently since release of 32bit builds has ceased.

When loading up any release of 5.0, I will see the Dolphin window appear for a split second, but then the program will close immediately with no error message. The only other case of this I have managed to find is in this thread: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-dolphin-just-closes, but there is unfortunately no solution listed there.
  • My Windows/graphics drivers/etc is/are up-to-date, and I have uninstalled all VC++ redists (both 32 and 64 bit), and have reinstalled only 64bit builds.
  • I have uninstalled and reinstalled Dolphin.
  • I have tried setting Dolphin to portable mode, to rule out the possibility of profile corruption. (Dolphin did check to see if portable.txt existed, and did create the relevant directories, the "crash" occurs after this).
  • I have checked Windows event logs, but unfortunately there is nothing there.
  • I have tried running in various compatibility modes.
  • I have disabled my antivirus and tried the program, this didn't work either.
  • I have checked Dolphin's log file but nothing is there (neither in my global directory, nor in the portable directory).
  • I have tried running Dolphin from command line, no error message is present.
  • I have tried running Dolphin in debug mode. As in the thread linked above, I can see that the window looks different, however the program still closes immediately with no error message.

Hopefully I have remembered to include everything I have tried in the list above, if not, I will update it accordingly.

DolphinQt will load, however games will not load from there (probably due to the fact that DolphinQt is currently unstable). This leads me to believe it must be some sort of dependecy issue/conflict with 64bit builds of standard Dolphin.

Please see my PC specs below, which are also listed in my profile:

Intel i5-3750K @ 3.4GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Dolphin 5.0 r3404

Other than attempting to build Dolphin myself, I'm all out of ideas. Hopefully someone here can assist and we can get to the bottom of this issue once and for all.

If I have missed any information, please do let me know.

Thanks!

EDIT:
Having had a quick look through the source code, I'm wondering if it could be an issue with VideoBackendBase:: PopulateList(), as it would appear that this is the point at which the program crashes. There is a preprocessor WIN32 check here that seems to contain some renderer dependency checks (of course, I could be wrong!).

Dolphin Running Slow

I've tried scanning the forums and have changed all the settings to those recommended for dolphin running slow. I'll attach screenshots but I'm begging to think it's my graphics processor, it runs games like animal crossing:city folk and mariokart fine, but some areas on legend of Zelda:twilight princess are unplayable, and sims castaway just gave up from the start. I was wondering if there's anything I can do to help dolphin run faster? thanks in advance

Some Metal API-related Questions

$

Hi everyone,

I'm back. Already. With what I think might be a slightly shorter novel this time. I've been having some fun stumbling my way through Dolphin's video code, and decided to try to make a rudimentary Metal backend (just as a learning exercise, don't expect anything). Regrettably, I'm currently hung up on the most basic of things: drawing to Dolphin's window using Metal.

I've copied the Null backend, renamed all necessary stuff, linked the Metal and QuartzCore frameworks (unless that one was already linked, I can't remember), added a Metal entry to the APIList enum, added an instance of the backend to the g_available_video_backends vector in VideoBackendBase:TongueopulateList(), and then selected it in the UI.

From what I've gathered, it seems the recommended (or only) way to get realtime graphics on the screen with Metal is through a CAMetalLayer, either with a layer-backed view or a layer-hosted view. I have tried a number of ways to achieve this goal in Dolphin which I won't bore you all with the details of, but the most successful I've been so far is by directly creating a CAMetalLayer and passing it to Dolphin's window_handle (by reinterpret_cast-ing the handle to an NSView), then setting wantsLayer to true in VideoBackend::Initialize(). Also in Initialize(), I wrote some test code to draw a single triangle to the texture contained in the CAMetalLayer, which brings me to the "successful" part of this exercise. Although the screen is still plain black, I know that the Metal code is solid because when I stop emulation, I see the triangle perfectly rendered for a split second before the window gets destroyed/hidden.

So, anyone know what's going on? I've tried really hard to figure out the solution on my own, but I think I just need to be pointed in the right direction and I'll be off to the races.

Thanks again!
